There are many different circumstances that drive people to seek therapy, but every person who seeks therapy has one goal—to feel better. Because you are the expert on you, collaboration is key to a productive, healthy, therapeutic relationship. I use a person-centered, integrative approach strongly influenced by cognitive behavioral therapies (e.g., schema-focused therapy, DBT, behavioral activation) to help you not only feel better but to do better. There are, however, some patients/situations that may not benefit from this treatment approach and another intervention (only approaches I am competent in delivering) may be utilized. This will need to be determined during the intake as well as continually throughout therapy.
